Amy Dury is from London but has lived in Brighton for 25 years. Dury studied at the Glasgow School of Art in printmaking, mostly silkscreen. She paints using acrylics and oils and paint both portraits and more narrative figurative scenes.
Dury's current main inspirations are Degas and Jennifer Packer, both masters of figurative paintings with beautifully observed details and expressive use of line and colour.
She has appeared on Portrait Artist of the Year 21, conducted a livestream portrait painting session for the Tate Instagram (March 21) and was selected for the Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize 21.
